Francis O'Dowd is the writer and illustrator of the modestly successful Wishhobbler, which has sold in such exotic places as Chicago, Hong Kong and South Shields. He has recorded two CDs of music, Wishhobbler Motionless Picture Soundtrack and Hopesgrave Easily Keeping Score; and was once asked for his autograph by Tom Baker, who used to be terribly famous.

Baldomero Izquierdo is almost certainly one of the most famous bus drivers ever to emerge from the Guipúzcoa province of northern Spain, having been twice voted Bus Driver of the Year by the commuters of his hometown La Esperanzatumba. Señor Izquierdo believes he might even have won the title a third time had he not, accidentally, reversed over a ninety-seven year old philosopher of education.
